Aspectos bioecológicos do camarão-rosa Penaeus Brasiliensis latreille (natantia, penaeidae) da Lagoa da Conceiçao, Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brasil Zoologia
Branco,Joaquim Olinto; Verani,José Roberto.
In the time period between May/92 to Abril/93, 602 (267 males and 335 females) specimens oi P. brasiliensis Latreille, 1817 were collected. The shrimps were captured by night using a hand net in áreas between 30 to 150 cm deep. The amplitude of length ranged from 1,3 to 13,7 cm, the highest frequencies of capture were registered during the Fali between the classes of 7,0 and 10,0 cm. The males present isometric growth and the females negative allometric one. The size of the pre-adult ranged from 8,8 cm for the females and 9,2 cm for the males. The recruiting occurs chiefly in the Summer with intense growth during the Fall-Winter period, reaching a climax with the migration of pre-adults to the ocean in midwinter.

Bioecologia e controle da broca pequena do tomateiro neoleucinodes elegantalis. Infoteca-e

Emergence and pupal mortality factors of Anastrepha obliqua (Macq.) (Diptera: Tephritidae) along the fruiting season of the host Spondias dulcis L. Neotropical Entomology
BRESSAN-NASCIMENTO,SUZETE.
The emergence and pupal mortality factors of Anastrepha obliqua (Macq.) (Diptera: Tephritidae) along the fruiting season of the host plant, Spondias dulcis L. (Anarcadiaceae), were studied in Sertãozinho, SP, Brazil, under field and laboratory conditions. Eclosed and uneclosed puparia were recorded in two experimental conditions. The number of emerged flies and parasitoids were determined in the eclosed puparia. The uneclosed puparia were inspected and classified into living (dormant) and dead. The following pupal mortality factors were considered: disease, desiccation, predation and parasitism. Out of the total of 1,204 puparia analyzed, 53% emerged and 47% remained uneclosed. Out of the uneclosed puparia, 25.3% contained dormant pupae and 21.7% showed no...

Functional response of Phytoseiulus macropilis under different Tetranychus urticae (Acari: Phytoseiidae, Tetranychidae) population density in laboratory Rev. Bras. Zool.
Ferla,Noeli Juarez; Marchetti,Marla; Johann,Liana; Haetinger,Claus.
We tested the functional response of the phytoseiid predator Phytoseiulus macropilis (Banks, 1904) to different population densities of Tetranychus urticae Koch, 1836 (the two-spotted spider mite - TSSM) in the laboratory. We evaluated the curve that best fits the data obtained, based on the reduced X². The predators were obtained from leaves of Oso Grande strawberries at the municipality of Bom Princípio, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Fifteen seemingly healthy females of P. macropilis were randomly chosen and individualized in each of the arenas with different TSSM densities. The following prey densities were tested: 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 35, 45, 55, 70 and 125 females. The tests were performed in a germination chamber with photoperiod of 12 hours...

Nymph and adult biology and seasonal abundance of Loxa deducta (Walker) on privet, Ligustrum lucidum Anais da SEB
Panizzi,Antônio R.; Mourão,Ana P. M.; Oliveira,Émerson D. M..
Laboratory and field studies indicated that privet, Ligustrum lucidum (Oleaceae), is an important host plant of the neotropical stink bug, Loxa deducta (Walker) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) in northern Paraná state. Survivorship of nymphs was high (82.9%) when fed immature fruits of privet. Nymph developmental time (from the 2nd stadium to adult) lasted » 49 d. At adult emergence, females attained greater (199.5 mg) fresh body weight than males (180.0 mg). Survivorship of adult L. deducta decreased gradually with time. Mean total longevity was » 62 d for females and » 55 d for males. Of 30 females observed, 25 (83.3%) oviposited when fed fruits of...

Oviposition of Quesada gigas in weed no hostess: implication in pest management Ciência Rural
Maccagnan,Douglas Henrique Bottura; Matuo,Tomás Kanashiro; Martinelli,Nilza Maria.
ABSTRACT: This study recorded the choice of dry plant of Conyza spp as oviposition site by cicada Quesada gigas (Olivier, 1790). We presented issues of natural history of the cicadas that indicate the inability of immatures to complete life cycle in this species of plant. Some implications on cultures where Q. gigas has economic importance are also discussed.

A year-long beach seine survey at the continental margin of Sepetiba Bay, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, catching mainly young-of-the-year and juvenile fishes was carried out from July 1983 to June 1984, in order to describe the community structure and their spatial and seasonal variations. Fifty-five monthly samplied carried out in five sites in the marginal surf zone waters yielded 11,463 fishes in 82 species, 59 genera and 31 families. Gerreidae, Engraulidi-dae, Atherinidae and Ariidae families amounted 87.01% of the total catch in number, and 81% in weight. Cerres aprion Cuvier, 1829, Anchoa januaria (Steindachner, 1879), Anchoviella lepidentostole (Fowler, 1911), Atherinella brasiliensis (Quoy & Gaimard, 1824) and Neluma barba (Lacépède, 1803)...
